February 2020 Chairman Newsletter
InfoTech WNY continues to make great strides with membership and sponsorships! Our Board of Directors has recently added the Community subcommittee to focus on K-12 and University education outreach.
We are excited to announce the BETAS will be returning to Riverworks on May 7th, featuring the robot competition and our annual showcase, which highlights all of our amazing Buffalo businesses and students.
I want to thank everyone who attended our Winter Bash networking event at Hearth and Press! Because of your gracious donations, we were honored to be able to donate $500 to WNYHeroes, Inc., which is a local non-profit supporting our WNY veterans. We will remain committed to supporting local charitable organizations and giving back to our community.
The annual Shadow Days program was a tremendous success with 57 students and 14 companies participating, offering 124 possible shadowing spots. This two-day experience was an amazing and eye-opening teaser of what technology students should be looking at for their professional career development.
Student Quotes:
• “100% said they would recommend this company for shadowing day for other students as well.”
• “Freed Maxick was very accommodating and made sure my time was significant in terms of learning.”
• “I honestly think my experience at Delaware North was perfect. It is a perfect opportunity for MIS and ITM majors at UB, and I really appreciate this opportunity."
