January 2019 Chairman Newsletter
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I hope the 2018 Holiday Season was filled with time for family, fun and festivities! I got some nice tech gifts this year, like the Samsung Gear Watch and the DJI Pocket Osmo! Did you get anything cool? Please send me an email if you did!
So now that we are in 2019, what do we have planned for you? Well, first we are having our Annual Student Shadow Program that takes place this week on January 15 and 16. We had 90 total opportunities for students to shadow and 61 students signed up! Thank you to all who participated! It is a great program and run by our good friend, Melissa Ruggiero from the University of Buffalo. THANK YOU, MELISSA!
We have our Winter Bash coming up on January 16, being held at the newest hotspot in Buffalo, the Labatt Draft Room, and is sponsored by DataSure24, a Freed Maxick Technology Company, thank you!
We are about to open the new nominations for the 2019 BETAS Awards and we hope you will take the time to recognize all the hardworking technology people in WNY. The BETAS will be held at RiverWorks this year on Thursday, May 2.
We are also working on a demo day with IBM using AI and Machine Learning to be held at Dig in late February so stay tuned by visiting www.infotechwny.com for more details.
Lastly, but certainly not least, we have a VIP coming to Buffalo on April 1. His name is Dan Cockerell, a recently retired VP at Walt Disney World. Now Dan is bringing his message: How to Deliver a World Class Customer Experience and The Role of Technology to major cities around the globe including Buffalo! To make this event World Class, we are looking for sponsors who want to take their company to the next level. The top sponsors will get access to Dan after the event to talk about business strategies, and how Dan can assist. Check out our flyer about the presentation and sponsorship packages HERE and share with your associates. This is going to be really big!
So we have a lot planned for the first half of the year and more to come, so please stay tuned, and if you have any ideas, suggestions or you want to talk about an idea, feel free to email me at pcimino@bnar.org. I love to talk about how we can make WNY a better place!!
Thanks for taking the time to read my newsletter!
