October 2018 Chairman Newsletter
Hello WNY Technology Community,
We had our Fall Bash on September 20 and I want to thank all of you who joined me at Duende at Silo City. Here are some pictures from the event https://buffalonews.com/2018/09/21/gallery11307/?utm_campaign=puma&utm_medium=social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1537540807
I also got permission to fly over Silo City with one of my Drones and here is the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0anGILEX24
Thank you to our Event Sponsors: Ronco Communications & Extreme Networks. There was some great technology showcased at the event, and some great giveaways! We also made some money for our charity, Gerard Place. Thank you again to all that donated to their cause.
We had a lot happening in September as we sponsored Buffalo Startup Weekend, where my team actually won!! Our very own Jeanne Hellert was honored by Buffalo Business First at the Women of Influence luncheon, congratulations Jeanne!! We also were a sponsor of the Project Management Institute’s Day of Learning and met a lot of great people there. We also joined our friends at Digital Rochester to attend their Great Awards Ceremony. We need to get Rochester and Buffalo together more often!! We also attended the 43North Finals and what a great set of winners this year. Special congratulations to SparkCharge for winning the top prize!
Coming up, we have a lot happening in October too, as we just co-hosted an A.I. and Machine Learning seminar at U.B. on October 5. There was a keynote address by Dr. Sargur Srihari, SUNY Distinguished Professor of the UB Department of Computer Science & Engineering, followed by an expert roundtable discussion which included our Vice-Chair Sam Marrazzo. We have a Blockchain for Supply Chain event on Thursday, October 11 featuring the top minds in our region with real world examples of how Blockchain works and can help different industries. We have Amazon coming in for Builders Day on October 18, the ISA Niagara Frontier Moog Plant Tour on October 22, the Technology & Cyber Security Forum on October 24 and lastly Business Development for the Future: for C-Level Executives and business leaders on October 31. You can find out all the details by visiting our website here: https://www.infotechwny.com/events
As always, you can reach me anytime at pcimino@bnar.org if you want to talk about what is going on in WNY and the Tech Scene. I truly appreciate all who work hard to make our Technology Community better for all! THANK YOU!!!
