Digital Rochester is now TechRochester!

Digital Rochester Announces New Name, Becomes TechRochester
Rochester, N.Y., December 5, 2018 – Digital Rochester announced a new name, tagline and logo for the organization at their annual holiday event, Festivus, that took place at Artisan Works on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Digital Rochester, founded in 2000, will now be known as TechRochester “advancing our technology community.”

The name change comes as part of a strategic plan that was developed in 2016 by the organization’s Board of Directors, and a long-term vision to evolve and change with the times. Originally started as a networking organization for technologists, the organization has grown to more than 5,000 members representing over 50 tech and tech-enabled companies. TechRochester is a leader in the technology industry, connecting its members to thought leaders, executives of Fortune 500 companies, investors, government and civic leaders, service providers and entrepreneurs.

The change supports TechRochester’s goal of transforming Rochester into a Top 10 technology region through collaboration, education and recognition. The new name and tagline is a natural progression for the organization that follows the evolution from 2010 when it grew with the inclusion of the Association for Women in Computing (AWC) and the eBusiness Association (eBA).

“The Board of Directors voted unanimously to move forward with the name change at our August strategy meeting,” explains President Nicole Mahoney. “The timing was right, we had just hired an Association Management Company and new Executive Director, and the recommendation came directly from a Key Strategic Area in our strategic plan. We are excited to be part of the next chapter for an organization that does so much to add to the strength of our technology business community.”

TechRochester will continue to deliver a wide array of educational, networking and recognition events including the annual Technology Woman of the Year Awards and the GREAT (Greater Rochester Excellence and Achievement in Technology) Awards. TechRochester offers programming in 5 areas of focus including; tech leadership, women in technology, emerging technologies, healthcare technology and digital marketing.
