Job Description
This person would be involved with mainframe storage operations activities.
Basic Function:

Perform operational tasks to support and maintain the mainframe storage environment. All functions are performed with the guidance and direction from team leadership and the Storage Engineering team.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of:
IBM zOS general and storage specific operations.
Virtual tape solutions, preferable EMC DLm/Data Domain
Familiarity with JCL and IBM DFSMS facilities.
Familiarity with Innovation Data Processing software.

The primary function of this role is performing routine storage tasks (Monthly, Weekly, Daily and Ad hoc) that deliver services to internal clients, engineers and managers. These tasks include:
Managing the storage request queue for all client requests.
Identifying the appropriate level of change control required to deliver each and working through
Service Manager to ensure proper adherence to organizational change management standards.
Daily monitoring of the infrastructure using OnCommand Insight and associated tools.
Triage problems and provide initial analysis to engineering teams.
The ability to provision storage on EMC VNX, VMAX and Centera using EMC UniSphere, EMC NaviSphere, Putty, and Cisco Data Center Network Manager.
The ability to provision storage on NetApp 7-mode and Clustered OnTap.
The ability to create and monitor data backups using Avamar and Net Backup.
The ability to build customized dashboards and reports for clients, engineering and management in SharePoint.
Minimal Qualifications:

2 years college
8 years technical experience
Technical Qualifications:

Proficient in all of the storage and backup software listed in the responsibilities is required.
A background in working within a structured data center (specifically storage) hardware repairs, moves, installs, reconfigurations, cabling, switch configurations and network connectivity.
In-depth knowledge of SharePoint (WSS 3.0) to build customized dashboards and reports for clients, engineering and management.
Have a proven experience in managing DR sites and redundancy of critical systems and services.
Must be capable of managing multiple work queues for different technologies, successfully prioritizing each to deliver “just in time” services to clients.
Possess a background in virtualization management.
Have practical experience managing Test, Dev and Production environments.
Experience with MS SQL is helpful.
A proven history in design, implementation and management of Data Backup and Recovery via on disk and tape media.
Customer service is a key soft-skill for this operational role. Having the ability to work effectively with client personnel in various organizational positions, IT managers and staff is a must.
Must possess sound analytical, organization and time management skills.
Ability to perform moderately complex problem analysis and define resolution actions.
Capable of learning new technical skills. Very good oral and written communication skills.
General understanding of the business unit's role and how they fit into the organization.
Displays a good understanding of the business area's functions, operational environment and their use of the supported application(s).
